Enjoy Going to the Health Club

Before you choose a health club you should consider somethings such as, the quality equipment, health & safety, trained personnel, the clubs policy and other.

A quality club will renew and maintain their exercise equipment on a regular basis and will undertake regular quality checks to maintain high standards. When you go and visit try out a few of the treadmills and weight machines and determine if they are in good order. If the exercise equipment is noisy are worn out then this is definitely not a good sign.

Check out the changing rooms, showers and saunas to determine how clean they are. If there dirty marks, dust, dried up sweat then, this is a warning sign. Health Clubs that are not well maintained are cleaned on a regular basis are certainly not healthy.

Speak to the club manager to ensure the staff are fully trained and are qualified with recognised national bodies such as the American Council on Exercise.

Make sure you understand the clubs policy on cancellations and refunds. Check if there is a cooling off period where you can sign up and cancel after a short period of time with a refund if you decide the club is not for you.

With health clubs the rule you get what you pay for usually applies however, this is not always the case and that is why it pays to check it out first. If a club has a high price tag and that does not reflect on the quality of equipment and service being offered then, this is a good sign to look elsewhere.
